Since the new season began, we have seen Group of Five teams rise up the past few weekends. In Week 2 and Week 3, smaller schools snatched some big wins against Power Five foes. A few big upsets on Saturday reshuffled the Group of Five Power Rankings, and the Week 4 slate of games features 11 more contests between Group of Five and Power Five opponents.

Those upsets come in many flavors. Teams like South Florida and Houston were expected to be contenders this season. After the game between Memphis and UCLA a few years ago went down to the wire, the Tigers always had a shot at taking down the Bruins. But teams like Northern Illinois were never expected to pull off their own statement victories.

Sometimes we can spot an upset threat ahead of time. Sometimes the Group of Five throws out a surprise challenger that manages to take down its Power Five opponent. Predicting who it will be this week is always part of the fun leading up to the weekend.
