Texas A&M Football: Aggies are a lock to beat the Razorbacks in SEC opener
1. Texas A&M beating Arkansas is a tradition
Texas A&M joined the SEC in 2012, otherwise known as the year of Johnny Manziel. It was excusable for Arkansas, and everyone else for that matter, to fall to the Aggies that season. However, five straight defeats has become a pressing issue for Coach Bielema.
Kevin Sumlin has picked up his fair share of criticism for his 8-5 finishes. The game against the Razorbacks has always been one that he can chalk up as a W. That takes on added importance when the team repeats late season struggles and can’t find a way to beat Ole Miss or Mississippi State.
Arkansas have been stronger than both of those Mississippi teams since the Aggies’ started to dominate the series, but that hasn’t stopped the Hogs from shooting themselves in the foot and failing to make any progress in their quest to beat Texas A&M.
Tradition is huge at Texas A&M. From the Spirit of Aggieland to the 12th Man, it’s been told that once an Aggie does something twice it’s sealed to happen forever. Texas A&M has beaten Arkansas in five consecutive SEC contests. There have been some wild ones, but for the most part the Aggies have handily controlled this series. Why mess with tradition?
