Texas A&M Football: Aggies are a lock to beat the Razorbacks in SEC opener
2. The Razorbacks’ offensive line is porous
Austin Allen is in fact still upright. As far as I know, that statement is accurate. Come the end of the game on Saturday it might no longer be true. That’s because this gritty gunslinger appears to have a death wish.
A season ago the Razorbacks, once lauded for the strength and size of their offensive line, surrendered more sacks than their defense register. The lack of a pass rush is to blame for a good chunk of that strange statistic, but the truth remains that the o-line is that bad. Anchored by center Frank Ragnow, the line has so far played much better on paper than on the gridiron.
The Aggies don’t have the advantage of Myles Garrett and Daeshon Hall as the bookends of their defensive line any more. However, the new duo of Jarrett Johnson and Qualen Cunningham has already shown they are more than capable of creating pressure on the quarterback.
It’s going to be awfully hard for Allen to get the ball down the field if he has to keep his eyes focused on the maroon and white jerseys in his face all afternoon. The edge (literally) goes to the Aggies in this department.
