UCLA Bruins Football: 5 players who earned game balls vs. Stanford

It was an unfortunate reality that JJ Molson saw the field as much as he did on Saturday. Usually, when a kicker is making a fair number of appearances in a game, it isn’t the best of signs. Molson did have one of his three field goal attempts blocked in the loss to Stanford, but otherwise he was perfect for the Bruins.
In his second season as the Bruins placekicker, Molson is still perfect kicking extra points. After going 27-of-27 on point-after attempts last year, he is now 24-of-24 following four more PATs against Stanford. Other than the one block, Molson managed to boot two field goals through the uprights. With strikes from 27 and 45 yards out, Molson accounted for 10 of the Bruins’ 34 points in the defeat.

The true sophomore started right out of the gate for Jim Mora’s team, which means that UCLA is set for at least another year beyond 2017 at the kicking position. Molson was far from perfect, but he was better than most of the Bruins that took the field in Stanford on Saturday. With another strong performance booting the ball, Molson get one of UCLA’s helmet stickers this week.
