UCLA Bruins Football: 5 players who earned game balls vs. Stanford
By Zach Bigalke
Jordan Lasley wasn’t the only receiver who blew up the stat sheet on Saturday against Stanford. Josh Rosen also found redshirt sophomore Caleb Wilson 11 times in the loss. Wilson put up 145 yards for his second-biggest game of the season. After a 200-yard performance against Texas A&M, Wilson put his name on the national map once again.
The one thing Wilson failed to do was reach the endzone against the Cardinal. But it was not for a failure to try, as he was the second-most prolific receiver on the field. His receiving yardage was just three yards shy of Stanford’s entire passing output as a team. It was a wasted effort, as UCLA allowed the Cardinal to pile up points with reckless abandon. But Wilson can’t be blamed for the defense’s failures.
Ultimately, the second-year receiver has put up the two biggest performances of his young career this month. The Bruins will continue to have a shot in Pac-12 play as long as Wilson continues to perform at a high level. He will have many more chances to earn add to the helmet sticker he earned in a strong but losing effort against Stanford’s secondary.
