There’s life again for the Virginia Cavaliers football team in Charlottesville. They handed the Boise State Broncos their worst home loss since 2009, winning 42-23 to close out nonconference play.

Quarterback Kurt Benkert threw for 273 passing yards and three touchdowns in the game. He had touchdown passes of 30, 27 and 64 yards. Wide receiver Anthony Levrone five receptions for 141 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns.

Running backs Jordan Ellis had 93 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. Olamide Zaccheaus had two carries for 64 rushing yards and a touchdown.

It was good day for the Cavaliers offense as they pulled off a big road win and moved up in the ACC power rankings. The defense held the Broncos to 30 rushing yards as well.

The NC State Wolfpack finally got the signature win they’ve been looking for under head coach Dave Doeren. They beat No. 12 Florida State at home, 27-21.

Defensive end Bradley Chubb led the way on defense with seven tackles, two sacks and two tackles for loss. Quarterback Ryan Finley went 22-of-32 with 230 passing yards and two touchdowns.

Wide receiver Jakobi Myers had five receptions for 112 receiving yards and a touchdown run-and-catch which ended with a front-flip into the end zone (yes, he stuck the landing).

The Wolfpack didn’t have any turnovers in the game and paced themselves all game, leading for pretty much the whole game. Next up, they host the Syracuse Orange.

The Florida State Seminoles find themselves unranked in the AP Poll for the first time since the 2011 season. The Seminoles are 0-2 on the season after dropping their first ACC game at home to the NC State Wolfpack.

They’ll need to find their offensive line and their running game going forward. The Seminoles running game hit a snag with just 104 yards and no rushing touchdowns in the game.

Florida State still has some kinks to work out on offense as they went 4-of-14 on third down conversions along with 11 penalties for 93 yards. Their two-week layoff showed in their loss to NC State, they look to bounce back this week against the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons remain undefeated at 4-0 after escaping Appalachian State with a 20-19 victory.

Quarterback John Wolford finished with 176 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and 77 rushing yards. Kicker Mike Weaver made the game-winning 25-yard field goal with 7:22 remaining in the game.

Wide receiver Scotty Washington blocked the Mountaineers’ game-winning field goal attempt with five seconds left in the game to secure the victory. It wasn’t pretty, but a win is a win for the Demon Deacons. They’ve got four wins so far with Florida State on the schedule next.
