ACC Football Power Rankings 2017: Florida State falls in Week 5
The Virginia Tech Hokies stayed perfect, defeating Old Dominion 38-0 at home. It was a tuneup game and both units looked good in the victory. Virginia Tech didn’t play too aggressive in the game for obvious reasons, but did enough to pitch a shutout.
Running back Steven Peoples emerged on offense as a potential weapon with three touchdowns in the game. Two of them came on passes and the third one was a rushing touchdown.
Cam Phillips had the third 100-yard receiving game of the season, catching six receptions for 106 receiving yards.
The 12th-ranked Hokies remain undefeated at 4-0 with a big conference game looming this week. Their game against Clemson this week is for conference bragging rights, because in all honesty, even if the Hokies win or lose, this could be a preview of the 2017 ACC Championship game.
The second-ranked Clemson Tigers played it conservative in Week 4 against Boston College as well. At least that’s how it looked.
The Tigers waited until the fourth quarter to find their offense, entering the fourth quarter with things all tied up at 7-7. However, 12 minutes and 27 points later, Clemson won the game easily 34-7.
Quarterback Kelly Bryant didn’t pass the ball particularly well but made up for it with 106 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. Running back Travis Etienne had a big game with nine carries for 113 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns as well.

It was a good win for Clemson as they enter a big road game to open up ACC play against the Virginia Tech Hokies. The defensive line will look to pressure another good quarterback in Josh Jackson. It should be a good one in Blacksburg.
