4. Mason Rudolph needs to be perfect for the rest of the season

Senior quarterback Mason Rudolph was expected to do big things against a TCU defense that let up 36 to SMU. Oklahoma State was held to five-less points than even SMU put up on the Frogs. Part of that was due to how prepared TCU actually was.

If you look at Rudolph’s stats, you would not think that this defeat was on his shoulders. Yet, he did not play at the same level that he has in recent games. The play calling from offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich was also suspect on numerous occasions.

This is an emerging theme from Mike Gundy and the Pokes of late. In 2015 and 2016, Oklahoma State would’ve had a chance to win the Big 12 if they had not lost to the Baylor Bears during the regular season. Now, this loss to TCU could cost them.

For Oklahoma State to run the table in the Big 12, they cannot lose another game this year. That includes tough tests against OU, Texas, Kansas State, and West Virginia. Chances are that Rudolph responds well this weekend against the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
