Quarterback Josh Jackson continues to excel as the Hokies starting quarterback. Jackson fueled the Virginia Tech offense in Week 4 with 298 passing yards, a rushing touchdown and three passing touchdowns. He did throw an interception early in the game, but bounced back after that, passing 20-of-30 in the game.

Jackson currently ranks first in the ACC passing touchdowns (11), fourth in passing yards (1,126) while also ranking first in passing yards per attempt (9.7).

The redshirt freshman has looked like a strong candidate for ACC Freshman of the Year in his first four starts so far. He is averaging 281.8 passing yards per game, which ranks fourth in the conference behind two juniors and a senior and first in passing efficiency rating (175.8).

Jackson has continued to build consistency in the passing game with wide receiver Cam Phillips as well to balance things out. Phillips is averaging 130.8 receiving yards per contest and has 523 receiving yards and five touchdown receptions on the year.

True freshman wide receiver Sean Savoy is developing with 40.8 receiving yards per game. Savoy has 14 catches for 163 receiving yards and a touchdown.
