TCU, welcome to the Big 12 Title Race

Remember when TCU was dreadful last season? They were virtually unwatchable and slogged their way to a Liberty Bowl appearance. In the offseason, there were quiet murmurs that TCU could contend for a conference title in 2017. By Saturday night in Stillwater, those murmurs turned into full on screams.

Despite the 44-31 win, the score could’ve had another touchdown in TCU’s favor because they were about three touchdowns better than Oklahoma State on Saturday and that’s not hyperbole. In a moment where Oklahoma State had the chance to validate every preseason and in-season sliver of hype, it was TCU stealing the headlines when Saturday turned into Sunday morning.

So what does this mean for TCU? Well, the Horned Frogs will assuredly rise in both polls, putting them into NY6 bowl discussions. In order for TCU to have their own validation, they face a tough road, as all Big 12 teams do. They’re off next week and then host West Virginia and then hit the road for a game at Kansas State. Survive that and you’re in a good place when it comes to playoff position by the time the first playoff poll comes out at the end of October.
