Baylor Football: 3 reasons offense is doomed without Chris Platt
1. The Baylor receiving corps already lack depth
One of the calling cards for the Baylor offense in year’s past under former head coach Art Briles was the amount of depth they had in the receiving corps. Matt Rhule does not have the same luxury in his first year in Waco, Texas.
We need to see receivers like sophomores Pooh Stricklin and Tony Nicholson step up. Stricklin and Nicholson did combine for more than 150 receiving yards in Week 4. Yet, that was a very pass-happy contest with the Sooners that will not happen against Kansas State.
Outside of Mims, Stricklin, and Nicholson, there’s not much in the Baylor depth chart at receiver. True freshmen R.J. Sneed and Gavin Holmes will be given a chance to establish themselves in the coming weeks.

Platt was the only Baylor receiver that was a junior in this receiving corps. Everyone else is either a sophomore or a freshman. Baylor could not afford to lose any experience on this young roster, especially not at receiver. Rhule will have to create something out of nothing on offense now.
