3. Armani Watts is leading the defense
There were a few departures on this defense that could have meant a crisis in leadership this year, especially with the hole left by defensive end Myles Garrett. However, senior defensive back Armani Watts is seamlessly taking over a huge leadership role.
Watts nabbed the game-winning interception for the Aggies, sealing the 50-43 overtime win over the Hogs. It’s his second pick of the year and he could be on pace to set a career-high in that department since he only needs one more to tie.

A lot of youth is present on this Texas A&M defense. Many of the starters in the secondary are sophomores and freshmen. Players like Charles Oliver, Larry Pryor, and Myles Jones could have bright futures with this defense.
Maybe the best part of the defense has been the front seven so far. Even rotation players like defensive end Landis Durham are making plays. Durham got a lot of pressure on the quarterback in Week 4, bringing down Austin Allen twice.
