3. Matt Campbell’s days could be numbered

A lot of things did not go Iowa State’s way in this game. Two plays that could have resulted in turnovers for the Cyclones after the Horns’ lead was cut in half in the third quarter ended up getting called back after review.

However, measurable progress does not seem to have been made yet under head coach Matt Campbell. He’s still trying to figure out the best way to help his quarterback. Jacob Park might not even be the best option for the Clones.

All of the head coaches for teams at the bottom of the Big 12 have been mentioned among hot seat talks at some point this year. Baylor’s Matt Rhule and Kansas’ David Beaty could possibly be losing their job if they finish at the bottom of the conference.

The Iowa State football program is in a tough situation with how good the middle of the Big 12 could be this year. From the Oklahoma Sooners all the way down to the Texas Tech Red Raiders, defeating teams that are not Kansas and Baylor might not happen for Iowa State.
