1. Texas has the best defense in the Big 12

The way that the Longhorns defense played against USC was something for every college football fan to take notice of. Defensive coordinator Todd Orlando continued to prove how good his defense can actually be.

One of the biggest question marks entering the season was the Texas secondary. However, that has been the most impressive thing on this Texas defense so far. Defensive back DeShon Elliott intercepted his third and fourth passes of the year.

Cornerback Kris Boyd also picked off Jacob Park once. This Iowa State offense was averaging more than 40 points per game entering this matchup. Texas held them to only one touchdown, which is the second time in the last three weeks that they have allowed less than 10 points.

In a conference made up of high-powered offenses and suspect defenses, Texas could end up making things very interesting. Much like the TCU Horned Frogs, Texas is a different style team than teams like Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are in the Big 12.
