ACC Football: MVP for each team entering Week 5
QB Ryan Finley, NC State Wolfpack
NC State Wolfpack quarterback Ryan Finley has a lot to do with their 27-21 upset of the Florida State Seminoles. Finley threw for 230 passing yards and two passing touchdowns in the victory. It was his 14-yard pass to running back Jaylen Samuels that sealed the victory for the Wolfpack.
Finley has thrown for 1,217 passing yards and eight touchdowns with zero interceptions this season. He’s one of two quarterbacks left in the ACC who has yet to throw an interception.
The senior transfer from Boise State is on his way to a career season as he’s 118-of-159 (74.2 percent) on passes in 2017. He ranks first in the ACC in passing completion percentage and is third in passing yards.
The Wolfpack are halfway to bowl eligibility and already have a signature win in ACC play. He’s made reliable targets out of Samuels and wide receiver Jakobi Meyers. We’ll see what else they have in store this season.
WR Steve Ishmael, Syracuse Orange
Syracuse Orange wide receiver Steve Ishmael hasn’t let the team’s record slow down his production. Ishmael is on his way to setting new career highs of his own in his senior season.
He has 45 receptions for 512 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown. Ishmael hasn’t found the end zone a lot but he’s still averaging 128.0 receiving yards per game. He ranks second in the ACC in receiving yards and first in the FBS and ACC in receptions.
Ishmael has been quarterback Eric Dungey‘s go-to receiver despite their 2-2 record. The Orange offense is averaging 300.0 receiving yards per game. He leads the FBS in receptions per game with 11.3.
