QB John Wolford, Wake Forest Demon Deacons

Quarterback John Wolford has jumpstarted the Wake Forest Demon Deacons offense with his arm and his legs in 2017. The Demon Deacons are 4-0 entering their first ACC game of the season with Florida State in Week 5.

In his fourth-year as a starter, Wolford has turned a corner as he’s thrown for 676 passing yards and eight touchdowns and ran for 269 rushing yards and three touchdowns. He also hasn’t thrown any interceptions in 2017.

After the offense ranked 118th in the FBS (20.4 ppg) in scoring in 2016, they rank 32nd in scoring in 2017 (32.8 ppg). It’s also helped their defense has allowed just 11.5 points per game, 8th in the FBS.

Wolford has built quite the rapport with wide receiver Greg Dortch and tight end Cam Serigne. Dortch, a redshirt freshman, has 20 receptions for 242 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns so far. Serigne, a redshirt senior, has six receptions for 108 receiving yards and four touchdowns this season.

RB Shaun Wilson, Duke Blue Devils

The Duke Blue Devils offense is averaging 241.0 rushing yards per game in 2017. The Blue Devils are well on their way to surpassing last year’s four-win season as they’re 4-0 currently. A lot of is due to running back Shaun Wilson, who has essentially picked up where he left off last season.

He has 59 carries for 357 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns in 2017. Wilson is second in the ACC in rushing yards and third in rushing touchdowns. He’s got five rushing touchdowns and is well on his way of setting a new career-high in his senior season.

The Blue Devils have a tough test against No. 14 Miami this week but a strong game from Wilson could change things in the Coastal. His backup, running back Brittain Brown has 328 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.
