3.  BYU won’t be ready

The Cougars are poised for a trap game. There are several factors that go into creating a trap game, but in short trap games are usually road contests against familiar opponents. BYU might not be ranked or heavily favored but there is a definite disparity between the quality of these two squads, at least over their history.

Utah State and BYU have played almost ever year for decades. BYU leads the all-time series 48-35-3, but the most recent history is even more one-sided. The Cougars have won 25 of the last 28 games, that includes a pair of 10 game winning streaks.

Next on the docket for BYU is Boise State. Unlike the Aggies, the Broncos have played the Cougars much closer. The two teams have met every year since 2012. In that time frame BYU is 2-3, and leads the total scoring margin by one point. These two are set for a duel next weekend, or at least that’s what BYU is looking forward to. They’re going to get caught sleeping and Utah State is going to be ready to pounce.
