4. Brandon Wimbush will take over once again

Brandon Wimbush has stolen the show in South Bend, following in the footsteps of many Irish quarterbacks before him. Wimbush’s rushing prowess was known to be his strong suit years before making his first start, but there was a question as to how the new quarterback would embrace the unfamiliar role. He has answered that question so far with solid performance after solid performance, but doubts still linger in regard to his arm.

Wimbush’s style has taken a bit of an adjustment for Notre Dame fans as the Irish have become quite accustomed to capable pocket passers. Everett Golson and Malik Zaire served as unconventional replacements for a few years, but signal callers such as Brady Quinn, Jimmy Clausen, Tommy Rees, and even DeShone Kizer have maintained the mold for the most part.

Irish fans have had little to complain about when it comes to Wimbush, however, with the first year starter recording totals of 184, 210, 96 and 173 passing yards in his first four games, respectively, this season. While those numbers have left much to be desired, it’s his run game that makes up for it. Wimbush has recorded 336 rushing yards on the season, while adding ten total touchdowns as well.

At the end of the day, Miami’s defense is simply not prepared to take on an offense of this magnitude. Wimbush will likely put up numbers similar to those against Temple and Boston College, leaving the RedHawks looking forward to their next matchup against Bowling Green.
