1. Baylor still has a big-play offense

One of the biggest plays of the game was a 74-yard rushing touchdown from starting running back John Lovett. When you look at the stat sheet for Baylor, you wonder why they were not able to win this game. That’s a credit to the Kansas State defense.

The other big play that the Baylor offense had was a 70-yard catch for a touchdown by sophomore wide receiver Denzel Mims. It was another huge week for Mims with well over 125 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Losing wide receiver Chris Platt for the season seemed to hurt the versatility of the offense a bit. But it does not look like it’s anything that the offense cannot recover from as time moves along this season.

There’s a lot of new names along this Baylor offense. Even projected starters at running back, JaMychal Hasty and Terence Williams, have not played a big role this year. Sophomore quarterback Zach Smith’s improved production is a reason for that.
