The one positive from Kansas State’s loss to the Vanderbilt Commodores is that it will not affect them in terms of making a run to the Big 12 Championship Game. They could easily pull off an upset against a team like the TCU Horned Frogs, West Virginia Mountaineers, etc.

Kansas State was expected to be one of the best teams in the Big 12 entering the season. They were really only behind the Oklahoma schools in terms of running the table in the Big 12. The emergence of TCU and the Texas Longhorns does present a challenge.

The way the Kansas State ground game looked against Baylor is a very encouraging sign. Senior quarterback Jesse Ertz rushed for 95 yards and one touchdown. That would end up being the game-winning touchdown for the Wildcats.

Starting running back Alex Barnes added another 80 yards on 12 carries. As a team, Kansas State ran for 225 yards and two touchdowns. Kansas State is one of the few run-first teams in the Big 12 and everything looks to be in order after the Baylor game.
