Blacksburg, Virginia was the backdrop of ESPN’s College GameDay prior to Saturday’s game between Clemson and Virginia Tech. Who is the Week 5 guest picker?

Last week’s show broke from the tradition of being hosted on the campus of a home team. Instead, the crew hit the road for New York City. Without a prime time game to pick, Lee Corso opted for one of his more unusual headgear choices in the history of the show.

Now we’re back to normal. No. 12 Virginia Tech hosts No. 2 Clemson on Saturday night in a rematch of last season’s ACC Championship game. Joining weekly hosts Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and Lee Corso, the College GameDay Week 5 guest picker is Virginia Tech legend Bruce Smith , per the Virginia Pilot.

He follows in the footsteps of a rather eclectic group of guest pickers that have paid a visit to the show in 2017. Country music star Sam Hunt correctly picked eight of nine games in Week 1 and after him it’s been tough sledding. Following Hunt were Eddie George (Week 2), Rick Pitino (Week 3) and Keegan-Michael Key (Week 4).

Not only does Virginia Tech claim Smith, he also had an extremely productive NFL career. The No. 1 overall pick of the Buffalo Bills in 1985, Smith was named to the Pro Bowl an astounding 11 times. He was inducted to the NFL Hall of Fame in 2009 and still reigns as the all-time sack leader in NFL history. He dropped the quarterback 200 times in his 18 year career.

The slate of games that Smith will pick should be a good one. The headliner is, of course, the nightcap between his Hokies and Clemson, but there’s a full day of college football ahead. No. 7 Georgia and Tennessee meet in an SEC-conference showdown, as do No. 24 Mississippi State and No. 13 Auburn.
