3. Thomas Sirk is finally finding his way

ECU has had quite the debacle at quarterback through five weeks of the 2017 college football season. They started out with former Duke transfer quarterback Thomas Sirk getting the nod behind center.

Sirk was really the only source of offense for the Pirates in the run and pass game. He was the only ECU offensive player that averaged more than 4.0 yards per carry. Sirk also had a big game through the air.

Much of the reason for ECU’s struggles on offense in the second half was because of the supporting cast around Sirk. Even the one of his two interceptions that Sirk tossed went off his receiver’s hands and should have been caught. The other was Sirk’s fault.

USF was just too good for Sirk to win this game by himself. It was certainly an admirable effort from the redshirt senior quarterback. This could also mean that ECU might improve its win total from last year.
