Texas A&M Football: 3 takeaways from win over South Carolina
2. Kendall Bussey needs more touches
Texas A&M has a very deep stable of running backs. It’s one of the aspects that makes the offense so hard to prepare for. Whether it be Trayveon Williams, senior transfer Keith Ford, or sophomore Kendall Bussey, they have a lot of threats out of the backfield.
The emphasis that Kevin Sumlin put on the ground game was not as heavy as it could have been. Williams got the bulk of the carries while Ford and Bussey got a decent amount of touches as well.
Yet, the one with the brightest future among the three running backs is Bussey. Him and freshman running back Jacob Kibodi are the future of this ground attack. The Aggies do always seem to have quite a few elusive backs to work with.
One of the worst parts about the emphasis on the run game between Mond and the running backs is the fact that star wide receiver Christian Kirk does not get as many touches as he should be. Yet, the more touches that a running back like Bussey gets is a great thing for this offense.
