College Football Rankings 2017: Projected Week 6 AP Top 25 Poll
By Zach Bigalke
NC State moved to 4-1 on the season and stayed unbeaten in conference play as they survived a visit by Syracuse 33-25 on Saturday. As a result, the Wolfpack will likely move up into the AP Top 25 on Saturday, taking the place of one of the teams on their way out of the rankings.
Dave Doeren’s defense gave up 385 yards and a touchdown to Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey, but they also held the Orange to just 59 rushing yards on 30 carries. Ryan Finley didn’t need to do much with his arm, as he finished 20-of-33 for 186 yards and a score. The Wolfpack won thanks to their running game, which piled on 256 rushing yards and three scores. Nyheim Hines led the way with 115 yards and a score on the ground.
NC State’s solid start to the season includes a win over Florida State that sets them up well in ACC play. They host Louisville on Thursday night in a game between ranked teams. A win against the Cardinal would solidify their position as Clemson’s biggest challenger in the Atlantic Division.
