College Football Rankings 2017: Projected Week 6 AP Top 25 Poll
By Zach Bigalke
Virginia Tech is bound to fall down the AP Top 25 after tumbling 31-17 at home to No. 2 Clemson on Saturday evening. The Hokies had no answer for the Tigers in the rematch of last year’s ACC championship game, even though they gave up just 332 yards of offense to the defending national champions. It was an ugly loss in prime time, especially with College GameDay in town for the festivities.
Josh Jackson threw for 251 yards on 29-of-44 passing, but he was held to just 13 rushing yards and tossed two interceptions in the defeat. As a team, Virginia Tech managed just 90 yards on the ground as they dropped their first game of the season.
The loss puts Justin Fuente‘s team in a deficit as they are now 0-1 in ACC play. Virginia Tech will need to rebound quickly ahead of their bye week with a win next weekend at Boston College. Coming out of their break, the Hokies play North Carolina and Duke at home before the big divisional showdown against the Hurricanes in Miami on the first weekend of November.
