NFL Mock Draft 2018: Complete first round after Week 5
Last year it was Myles Garrett, this year it’s Arden Key that is right in the midst of the race for the No.1 overall selection of the 2018 NFL Draft. The only thing that’s going to keep the SEC from obtaining consecutive No.1 overall pass rushers is a quarterback deficiency at the top of the charts. Frankly, the odds are weighted heavily towards that being the case.
The Bears, at least right now, don’t have a quarterback problem. Mike Glennon is the guy in Chicago right now and last year’s second selection, Mitchell Trubisky, is eagerly waiting in the wings. While Trubisky was a relative unknown at this point in the draft process a year ago, Key is already becoming a household name.
Key, who is slowly working his way back from injury, entered Week 5 with 16.5 sacks on his career but just half a sack in 2017. To be fair, that came in limited action against Mississippi State.
Since then, Key had registered modest stat lines in games against Syracuse and Troy. He has yet to take over a game this season, once he does, his spot at the top will be much more secure.
