Winner: Georgia Bulldogs (No. 7 up to No. 5)

Don’t look now but the Georgia Bulldogs are ranked No. 5 in this week’s AP Poll. The Bulldogs handed the Tennessee Volunteers their first shutout loss since 1994, 41-0.

Head coach Kirby Smart is off to a 5-0 start in Year 2 as head coach and a lot of it has to do with the defense. The Georgia defense allowed seven first downs and held the Vols to 1-of-12 on hird down conversions. They held them to 142 total yards and forced four turnovers in the shutout.

The Bulldogs have proven themselves these past few weeks and are surging once again in the AP Poll for the second-straight week. Quarterback Jake Fromm finished the game with 84 passing yards, a passing touchdown and two rushing touchdowns to lead the scoring on offense. Running back Nick Chubb had 16 carries for 109 rushing yards, while Sony Michel had 11 carries for 64 rushing yards and a touchdown.

The Bulldogs look like the early favorite to win the SEC East now at 2-0. They travel to face the Vanderbilt Commodores this week in what should be another strong defensive performance.
