College Football Rankings 2017: Week 6 AP Poll winners, losers
Winner: Washington State Cougars (No. 16 up to No. 11)
The Washington State Cougars have turned a corner, or so it seems in the Pac-12 after their 30-27 victory over the USC Trojans. The Cougars look like the team to beat in the conference after their impressive victory over USC.
#Pac12AfterDark delivered in the clutch once again as the Trojans and Cougars battled back and forth. A 32-yard field goal by Erik Powell with 1:40 left was all Washington State needed to get the victory in the end.
It is their first 5-0 start since the 2001 season and it comes at a time when quarterback Luke Falk is looking good throwing the ball. Falk was 34-of-51 with 340 pasing yards and two passing touchdowns in the game. He largely outplayed USC quarterback Sam Darnold, who was all the hype coming in.
Now, the Cougars are 2-0 in Pac-12 play and this year’s Apple Cup takes on a bit more meaning this season against the No. 7 Washington Huskies. They’ll just need to keep their momentum going until their season finale with the Huskies.
Next up for them is an Oregon Ducks’ team looking to get back into the AP rankings themselves. It should be another good one.
