College Football Rankings 2017: Week 6 AP Poll winners, losers
Winner: NC State Wolfpack (Unranked up to No. 24)
The NC State Wolfpack are ranked as the No. 24 team in the AP Poll. They’ve done well since their 27-21 defeat of the Florida State Seminoles in Week 4. In Week 5, they defeated the Syracuse Orange 33-25 to remain undefeated in ACC play (2-0).
Make that four-straight victories for the Wolfpack since their season-opening defeat to the South Carolina Gamecocks, 35-28.
Quarterback Ryan Finley finished with 186 passing yards and a passing touchdown. Running back Nyhiem Hines ran for 115 rushing yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.
Defensive end Bradley Chubb has been named ACC Defensive Linemen of the Week for the second-straight week. Chubb finished with eight tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks against the Orange.
The NC State Wolfpack look to be headed in a new direction as they entered a critical stretch under head coach Dave Doeren. They haven’t been ranked since the 2010 season. They are one of five ACC teams remaining in the AP Poll.
This week, their challenge is slowing down Lamar Jackson and the Louisville Cardinals.
