5. The Virginia Tech football season is over

This is probably the biggest overreaction after falling to the No. 2 in the nation. The Virginia Tech Hokies are a young team and it showed against the defending national champions in their 31-17 loss.

The truth of the matter is the Hokies are in good shape at 4-1 with plenty of football left to be played. There’s also a highly likelihood they could see the Clemson Tigers again in the ACC Championship so there’s nothing to hang their heads about.

No, the Virginia Tech football season isn’t over. What the game did do is show how much work needs to be done to reach Clemson’s level of play. They had four NFL draft picks on their defensive line alone.

Virginia Tech had a redshirt freshman starting at quarterback and it showed. He threw two interceptions after all and was unable to connect very often with wide receiver Cam Phillips.

The season is far from over as the Hokies can still win the Coastal division. They face some tough teams in No. 13 Miami and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets’ Triple Option offense but Kelly Bryant is probably the toughest quarterback they’ll face the rest of the season.
