3. New coach, same result

The Virginia Tech Hokies once again fell on the national stage, but to be honest, this loss felt a lot different than the Frank Beamer era losses against top teams.

The Hokies were knocking on the door still at halftime 17-3 despite missed field goal and other missed opportunities in the first half. Adjustments in the second half could have been made a bit better, but under Year 2 with head coach Justin Fuente patience needs to kick in quickly from the fanbase.

Truth is, the Virginia Tech Hokies need to recruit better and this game should be that “Aha” moment. The Tigers had the most talent on the field and it showed possession after possession.

The Hokies were knocking on the door, but experience and talent is a hell of a combination when used correctly. Clemson has been top 10 in recruiting for the past couple of seasons now.

The Virginia Tech Hokies got their wakeup call after this one hopefully and are working on the recruiting trail as we speak to fix the chinks in the armor.
