Rose Bowl Game (Playoff No.1)

Rose Bowl (Playoff No. 1): Oklahoma vs. Clemson
Where: Rose Bowl Stadium (Pasadena, Calif.)
When: Jan. 1, 2018, at 4:30 p.m. ET on ESPN
Last week’s projection: Oklahoma vs. USC

After a week off for the Sooners, they are back in action against Iowa State this week. However, the biggest news is who they will be playing if these projections hold true throughout the season

I wasn’t buying Clemson as the second best team after the first week of the season because it’s easy to drink the Kool-Aid and get burned. After Clemson’s third win over a top-15 opponent in the month of September, I’m convinced that the Tigers are the best team in America NOT named Alabama.

The Sooners most difficult stretch comes over the next few weeks with games against Texas, Kansas State getting a victory over Iowa State doesn’t mean much if OU can’t pick up more substantial wins later on. Clemson looks to continue it’s destructive path through the ACC with a visit from Wake Forest who suffered their first loss of the season last week.

Week 6 Impact: Both Clemson and Oklahoma should win running away this week. However, what if something happens and one or both of these teams go down. At this point, you’d switch Oklahoma out for either Wisconsin or Washington. What about Clemson? They are clearly the second best team in the country at this point and have the resume to prove it. I would drop Clemson to the 4th spot like they’ve been over the past few weeks. I think them along with Alabama have earned the right to maintain their spot in the playoff even with a loss.
