4. A much improved Tanner Lee

Tanner Lee is coming off his most consistent outing of the season against Illinois. The Tulane transfer, who has thrown nine interceptions on the year, connected on 17-of-24 passes for three touchdowns and no interceptions last Friday.

It helped that Lee’s favorite target — wide receiver Stanley Morgan — returned to the lineup against the Illini after sitting out against Rutgers the week before with a neck injury. Morgan has 26 catches in four games this year.

In addition to Morgan, Lee will look to De’Mornay Pierson-El and Tyler Hoppes to make plays. Hoppes, a senior tight end, hauled in his first career touchdown against Illinois a week ago.

Offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf seems to have found some play-calling rhythm and giving Lee high-percentage throws is a recipe for success. Expect more of it come Saturday.

If Lee can protect the football, complete the easy throws, and move the chains, Nebraska’s chances improve dramatically.
