To this point the 2017 season has been about what people would have expected from Ole Miss football. But can the Rebels improve and shake things up in the SEC in October? Here are five bold predictions for the Rebels this month.

The Ole Miss Rebels have performed, win/loss wise, to the expectation of most, including myself four games into the season. The only surprise so far was the loss to Cal. That was a game in which Ole Miss should have won but its offense disappeared and has yet to be heard from again.

This is a team in flux and it shows in the level of play. Ole Miss has been at least competitive with Alabama every season since 2012. Even Ole Miss teams led by Houston Nutt and Ed Orgeron, did not lose to Alabama the way the Rebels did last week. The offseason drama has clearly taken a toll on Ole Miss; but the opportunity to still have a ‘good’ season is there.

The month of October begins a tad bit rough for the Rebels as they make a trip out to Auburn to face the Tigers. After that game though, the schedule presents three other very winnable games. Ole Miss will face Vanderbilt, LSU and Arkansas after the Auburn game, all of which are at home in Oxford. This gives Ole Miss a good shot at getting some wins. Only time will tell if the Rebels improve enough to actually steal a win from those teams.

Without further ado, lets dive into the bold predictions for the Rebels in October.
