Ole Miss Football: 5 Bold predictions in October
4. A.J. Brown reaches 1,000 yards receiving by end of October
Brown is currently sitting at 395 yards on the year. It is entirely possible that he could reach 1,000 by the end of October. Even if he doesn’t get to that number, he’ll be darn close. But for the sake of bold predictions, I’m going to say he’ll get there.
As I said earlier, the Ole Miss offense has the ability to be explosive. Brown is one of the many reasons as to why. He will go up and win the 50/50 ball every ball. He’s hard to bring down in the open field, and even if one defender gets ahold of him, there’s a good chance he could shake that defender off and keep going.
On a team loaded at wide receiver, Brown stands out and made his presence known early in the year. Brown suffered an injury to his knee early in the Cal game and never returned in that game. Then against Alabama he only caught one pass.
The defensive units that the Rebel offense will face give Brown a good shot at being able to achieve 100 plus yard games. The only team he might not get 100 yards on would be Auburn. I’d even almost say Vanderbilt would be tough to get 100 yards on but after what Alabama and Florida did to their defense, I think there’s room for offensive production from Brown in that game. As long as Brown remains healthy and Patterson is able to get him the ball, I see no reason as to why Brown wouldn’t return to his dominating form.
