3. Jake Bentley does everything for South Carolina

After losing star wide receiver Deebo Samuel for the season due to injury, nearly all of the offensive burden for the Gamecocks fell on sophomore quarterback Jake Bentley’s shoulders. And, he has not disappointed so far.

Bentley took over last year for the Gamecocks behind center after Brandon McIlwain did not work out quite as anticipated. He led South Carolina to a bowl game and a huge upset win over the Tennessee Volunteers last year.

The fact that Bentley is still making progress this year is a very good sign. This could end up being a very good NFL prospect soon. In this game, Bentley tossed three touchdowns and also threw for more than 200 yards without a single interception.

With how inconsistent the production has been from the ground game for the Gamecocks, Bentley’s performance matters even more. If South Carolina wants to continue winning games in the SEC this year, this is the way he’ll have to play each week.
