3. Stanley Morgan’s consistency

There’s little doubt that Stanley Morgan is Nebraska’s top receiving threat. He continues to make amazing plays week after week. However, with the hot, comes the cold, and Morgan’s mistakes continue to stymie the Huskers’ offense.

Morgan’s big-play capability showed late in the second quarter. The junior hauled in an 80-yard touchdown from Lee to cut the Badgers’ lead to 10-7. He’d finish with 115 yards on 4 catches.

However, Morgan’s fumble following a 15-yard completion in the fourth quarter, pretty much dashed any hopes of a Nebraska comeback after Wisconsin recovered. Morgan also missed a key block on Lee’s pick-six three weeks ago on the opening drive against Northern Illinois.

Morgan continues to climb the charts at Nebraska. His 510 receiving yards through six games are the second-most in school history according to the Lincoln Journal Star’s game notes. He trails only Heisman winner Johnny Rodgers, who had 521 yards through six games in 1972.

Nebraska needs to continue to feed Morgan the ball. There’s no doubt Morgan is Tanner Lee’s favorite target. Going forward he has to eliminate the fumbles and the drops for Nebraska to turn things around.
