Might as well cut to the chase. The vultures will be swirling this week in Lincoln. Mike Riley’s job status looks to be on shaky ground. Add in the fact that former Nebraska quarterback, and current UCF head coach Scott Frost has things rolling, and the rumor mill will only gain steam.

Granted, Riley is only in his third season in Lincoln. However, his record with the Huskers stands at 18-14. In the fishbowl that is Nebraska football, that just isn’t good enough.

Take another stat into consideration: Riley is now 0-5 against both Wisconsin and Iowa. Those are the teams Nebraska must beat to win the Big Ten West. So far, Riley is failing miserably in that area.

Riley also brought in Diaco to turn around a struggling defense. That has yet to happen as Saturday’s outing dropped Nebraska from 22nd to 61st in rush defense

Wisconsin was the first team since 2008 to waltz into Lincoln and come out victorious in a night kickoff. The Badgers ended Nebraska’s 20-game winning streak of night games in Memorial Stadium.

With Nebraska searching for a new A.D. who knows which direction that person will go. The jury’s still out on Riley, but unless things get turned around quick, it may be a speedy deliberation.
