1. Bradley Chubb records double-digit sacks for the second year in a row

Bradley Chubb is the Wolfpack’s best player. After bursting onto the national scene last season as a junior with a 10.5 sack campaign, Chubb decided forgo the NFL, and a probable day-two draft selection, to return to Raleigh and lead the Wolfpack’s defense for one final time.

And so far, the senior has proven exactly why he is one of the best players in the entire nation. Chubb has recorded a sack in five consecutive games this season, and is currently tied for fourth in the nation in total sacks with six and a half. In Week 7, Chubb and company will be facing off against the 15th most sacked team in the entire nation.

Through the first six games of the season, Pitt has somehow allowed their quarterback to be sacked 18 times, or roughly three times a game, and none of their previous opponents have possessed a defensive difference-maker quite like Bradley Chubb.

Chubb, a chiseled 6-foot-4, 275-pound defensive lineman from Marietta, Georgia, has proven to be practically unguardable at the FBS-level, and believe me, teams have tried.

As you can see above, Chubb practically flies off the edge like a cannonball when the ball is snapped, and possesses the kind of relentless motor to play to the whistle that defensive coordinators dream of.

Even if the Panthers are somehow able to keep Chubb  at bay for much of their Week 7 bout, their quarterback Max Browne, a graduate transfer from USC, will likely spend his fair share of time on the ground on Saturday due to the Wolfpack’s 19th ranked pass rush.

But frankly, if teams like Florida State and Louisville couldn’t keep Chubb at bay, how on earth could anyone expect Pitt’s awful offensive line to do so? Expect Chubb to deliver pressure on virtually every play he is in the game, and challenge for a new NC State single-game sack record in the process.

If Chubb can pull of a trio of sacks against the Panthers’ statue quarterback in Week 7, it would make for his second consecutive double-digit sack performance in Raleigh and would put him on-pace to challenge for Mario Williams‘ 2005 NC State’s all time sacks record.

Bradley Chubb is one of the best players in the entire nation, and much like Williams before him, should hear his name called early in the first round of the 2018 NFL draft.
