2. Sam Ehlinger throws three touchdown passes

True freshman Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger has been so clutch. He nearly led the Horns to upset the USC Trojans on the road. Then, he actually did lead Texas to a big win over Kansas State last week in overtime.

The concerning part about Ehlinger’s stat line is the amount of interceptions thrown. He’s tossed half the amount of interceptions that he has touchdowns. Yet, two of his three picks did come in the USC game.

Ehlinger seems to have his star shine brightest when the stage is the highest. An OU team that just lost to Iowa State is not going to be able to intimidate him at all. OU will have to come with its best effort on defense to be able to shut this quarterback down.

The gradual improvement of Ehlinger should start with him getting more consistent snaps behind center. Since sophomore quarterback Shane Buechele has seemingly lost his job, it should only get better from here with Ehlinger.
