Running Back – B+

The running game, which is admittedly limited in WVU’s up-tempo attack, has been solid. Justin Crawford is averaging 7.06 yards a carry so far, with six touchdowns accounted for.  Those are pretty convincing numbers for a running back in the Air Raid.  On top of that, Crawford has shown that he can do things like this:

The Air Raid offense up in Morgantown receives plenty of attention for what Will Grier and the receivers have done. Rightfully so. But, it’s worth mentioning that the ‘Eers rank second in the conference with 213.2 rushing yards per game. Only TCU, which defeated WVU at home in Week 6, averages more yards on the ground per game.

Crawford, and by extension the run game, will need to maintain that level of performance if WVU wants to keep defenses off balance in the second half of the season.
