Arkansas Football: Alabama mercilessly slaughters Hogs
3. There’s nothing Bret Bielema can do to fix this
When things go the wrong way everyone calls for the head of the head coach. Someone has to be held responsible. And there’s no doubt that Bret Bielema has built the mess that is Arkansas football right now. But there’s nothing that he can do right now that’s going to fix it.
Bret Bielema can’t heal Austin Allen. He can’t make the offensive line turn into a decent pass protection unit overnight. The talent just isn’t there. To draw an analogy to baseball, the only feasible solution is a complete rebuild. The university needs to start from ground zero and build this team up from nothing. Because that’s where they are right now.
Arkansas needs more than a new coach, they need a new identity. That’s something that won’t happen before the Razorbacks next game and it won’t happen before the next season. There has been a changing of the guard in the SEC and the Mississippi States of the world have replaced Arkansas as the SEC’s middle class.

For Arkansas fans this isn’t encouraging, but it’s reality. Sorry Razorbacks. You’ve got a rough stretch ahead and you still have to play Auburn.
