1. Will there be a rematch in December for the Mountain West title?

Even though San Diego State and Boise State are pretty much out of the running for a New Year’s Six berth, they remain the top two teams in the Mountain West this season. With their emphatic win on the road, the Broncos remain unbeaten in conference play and kept pace with Colorado State and Wyoming in the MWC Mountain standings.

Meanwhile, the Aztecs are now stuck behind Fresno State in the league standings. But the two teams square off next weekend at Qualcomm Stadium, and a San Diego State win would put Rocky Long’s team right back in pole position in the MWC West table.

At this point, this looks like a game that might be played again in a few months’ time. With big divisional battles looming on the horizon, Boise State has a tougher path to reaching the Mountain West championship game than their vanquished counterpart from Week 7. But the Broncos control their own destiny, with Wyoming visiting the Smurf Turf next week and a trip to Fort Collins looming on Nov. 18.
