3. The Louisville defense needs a facelift

The Louisville Cardinals defense allowed 555 total yards of offense to the Boston College Golden Eagles. A majority of that came from Boston College running back A.J. Dillon. Dillon ran around, over and through the Cardinals’ defense for 272 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns in the game.

In total, Louisville gave up 364 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns in their Week 7 loss to Boston College. The Golden Eagles offense isn’t very good but the Cardinals changed all of that allowing them to gain 27 first downs while going 9-for-18 on third down conversions.

It was the second-straight week the defense allowed over 500 yards of offense and it earned them their second loss in three weeks. At 4-3, the Louisville Cardinals seem to know where the weak links are, they just need to close them off.

They don’t necessarily need a major change but somebody needs to step up for their defensive unit in 2017. It doesn’t help their leader, linebacker Stacy Thomas, was sidelined with a knee injury and is questionable for their game this week against the Florida State Seminoles.
