Louisville Football: 5 overreactions from loss to Boston College
2. Boston College has found their offense
The Boston College Golden Eagles shocked the world when they began going toe-to-toe with the high-powered Louisville Cardinals offense. The leader of the Boston College offense was running back A.J. Dillon.
Dillon, a true freshman, exploded for a career-high 39 carries for 272 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns against the Cardinals defense. He begs to ask the question: Where’s he been all season? But the truth is, he’s been on the roster this whole time.
He had 25 carries for 120 rushing yards and a touchdown in a victory over the Central Michigan Chippewas. Dillon was a secret weapon before but he may not be a secret anymore after the way he did the Louisville defense.
The performance by Dillon earned him Walter Camp National Player of the Week honors. We’ll see how the Golden Eagles use him on offense going forward after this one. Dillon became the first player since the 2013 season to rush for over 200 yards.
The Louisville defense was bad and it showed through Boston College passing numbers. The Golden Eagles had just 191 passing yards in the game, led by quarterback Anthony Brown. Brown was 5-of-17 with 100 passing yards, a passing touchdown and an interception in the game.
