1. Bobby Petrino can’t win in the ACC

The Louisville Cardinals are 1-3 in ACC play but they can still finish out the rest of their schedule with a reasonable standing. Head coach Bobby Petrino had a tough draw in the team’s first two conference games of the season but scheduling in between those games could have thrown things off.

The Louisville Cardinals faced the Kent State Golden Flashes and Murray State Racers in back-to-back weeks following their 47-21 loss to the Clemson Tigers. They scored a combined 97 points while allowing just 10 points on defense.

The problem with that is the current result as Week 8 approaches for Louisville. The team is 4-3, allowing 29.6 points per game, 86th in the FBS, this season. Last season, their scoring defense ranked 32nd at 23.8 points per game.

It may look like Bobby Petrino can’t win a game in the ACC but the truth is the conference is improving, despite what overall records may look like. You can win one week at North Carolina then lose at home the following week in blowout fashion to the NC State Wolfpack.

It speaks more on the growing talent levels in the ACC than anything else. Petrino needs to get on the recruiting trail and get some defensive athletes in Louisville or these games could start happening a lot more often.
