NFL Mock Draft 2018: Complete first round after Week 7
By Dana Becker
Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing in over 230 pounds, Josh Allen has the right attributes to be a standout for many seasons to come in the NFL.
However, his numbers have yet to match that.
Allen played in 14 games last year as a redshirt sophomore, completing 556 percent of his passes for 3,203 yards with 28 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. So far this year, he has yet to get on that pace, throwing for 1,085 yards and seven touchdowns with fourth interceptions.
Draft experts, though, just cannot discount Allen because of his size and frame. He has the big arm teams look for and has so many similarities to Ben Roethlisberger coming out of college that it’s difficult to pass him by.
The New York Jets have never struggled to make crazy picks, and taking Allen this high would be another one. They selected Christian Hackenberg previously, but the former Penn State standout has been unable to move past Josh McCown or Bryce Petty on the depth chart.
