I’ve been tough on J.T. Barrett lately because of his performances in the Clemson and Oklahoma games, but new offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson has done a great job in helping Barrett get his confidence back.

On Saturday, Barrett shredded Nebraska for 325 yards on 27-for-33 completions for five touchdowns and zero interceptions. He also ran for 48 yards on 10 carries and two more touchdowns. He had seven total scores on Saturday and 373 total yards himself. To be quite honest, Barrett balled out at the expense of Nebraska.

Quietly, Barrett has pushed himself back into the Heisman talk after Ohio State’s bye week. If he can play this well against Penn State, Heisman talk and Ohio State’s College Football Playoff hopes will grow tremendously.

On Saturday, Barrett did a good job being timely with his throws and taking deep shots on a consistent basis. Like the other five players that received game balls, this was the first one I have given to Barrett and if I’m able to do any more game ball posts on the Buckeyes this season, I’m pretty sure the senior quarterback will get a few more.
