4. The Washington Huskies won’t win the Pac-12 North

Winning the Pac-12 North is paramount for the Huskies if they hope to have a chance at making the College Football Playoff. The problem for the Huskies is their lack of focus coming into games like these.

The Huskies offense punted the ball in five of the first six possessions of the game, gaining a total of 40 yards in the first half. It seemed the offense had taken the night off early but it adjusted some in the second half.

The Washington Huskies offense finished with 230 total yards in the game (190 of those coming in the second half) but it wasn’t enough as they faltered against a 3-3 Arizona State squad. To their credit, it’s the Sun Devils’ second victory over a ranked opponent this season.

It’s a black eye on the Huskies’ resume but they have a lot to learn from it. The offense went 3-of-14 on third down conversions and 2-of-2 on fourth downs.

Quarterback Jake Browning went 17-of-30 with 139 passing yards and no touchdown passes in the game. The loss of Chico McClatcher seemed to affect the passing game. It was his first game without a passing touchdown since Dec. 26, 2015.

Browning will need to step up and find a new playmaker in the receiving corps or their bid to repeat as Pac-12 champions could fall short.
