College Football: 2017 Week 8 AP Poll winners and losers
Winner: LSU Tigers (from unranked in the AP Poll to No. 24)
The LSU Tigers are back in the AP Poll as the 24th-ranked team after going unranked for the past two weeks. The Tigers knocked off the Auburn Tigers 27-23 in another impressive comeback victory.
This time, LSU used a huge punt return by wide receiver D.J. Chark to climb back into it. Chark sprinted 75 yards for a touchdown to shrink the deficit to 23-21 early in the fourth quarter.
Kicker Connor Culp would go on to make two field goals (42 yards and 36 yards) to give the LSU Tigers a 27-23 lead for good. After trailing by as many as 20 points in the second quarter, the Tigers bounced back once again in Week 7 to get their second SEC victory of the season.
It was a tale of two halves for the LSU defense. After surrendering 23 points and 290 total yards of offense in the first half they tightened things up in the second half. They gave up zero points, 64 total yards of offense, just six of those yards were passing, in the second half.
The LSU Tigers travel to Ole Miss this week to face the Rebels. Let’s see if they can make it three straight victories in conference play.
